Special properties can now be bought and rented on the banks of the Flensburg Firth in Denmark.
Water has always had a special appeal. Many dream of an idyllic life on the waterside with long beaches and endless horizons. While many of us have enjoyed a waterside holiday, a much more exclusive experience is now created by an innovative house concept: life and leisure in a floating home.
Homes on the water are now a reality
This dream is made possible by Floating Homes, a company based in the town of Verden in Lower Saxony. The company has been designing, planning and building floating homes for living, work and leisure since 2006. Numerous projects have already been completed, including a two-storey residential building near the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and Germany’s first floating housing estate that was also built in Hamburg. These projects were followed by the construction of four floating holiday homes in the Baltic resort of Großenbrode in 2018. The homes instantly enhanced the municipality’s image and the backdrop of the private marina where the homes are anchored, treating owners and tenants to a special holiday experience.
Year-round holiday experience
The latest Floating Homes project has just been completed in Denmark. Two homes have been anchored this summer at the private Marina Minde along the banks of Flensburg Firth. The houses in the Floating Homes A Type are now available for sale and rent, offering around 46 m² of living space, a terrace and an accessible 20 m² sky deck on the roof. But the sky deck isn’t the only place to enjoy sweeping ocean views, as the panoramic windows provide an unobstructed view of the water from every angle. The berth is open all year round, which means homeowners can stay there for as long as they like. As the homes are fully developed and highly energy-efficient, they can be rented out to holidaymakers or even used as a permanent residence.
The houses sold by Floating Homes are built on land. Their wooden frame is mounted on a reinforced concrete pontoon, which is watertight and doesn’t require maintenance. The houses aren’t held in place by an anchor, but bollards that also balance the tidal range. Both houses at Marina Minde feature all the necessary sanitary facilities and are ready for occupancy – nothing is standing in the way of your immediate move to a floating paradise.
